66 - Malpractice Risk: Safety VIDEO
This video considers the circumstances of a real malpractice case on a resident fall incident, and looks at the most common safety risk areas, such as falling, standing up, and bathing.
This video also looks at the areas the court considered when deciding the case, such as:
1. the initial resident fall assessment
2. resident history
3. whether the facility provided responsive care
4. circumstances of the fall, i.e., what happened before the fall>br>
It also discusses ways to reduce risks by knowing the physical and cognitive limitations of the resident, and using environmental safeguards.
